SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE
Guidelines to make your visit Sustainable
As an EPIC visitor, you have a vital role in making our event
sustainable. Below is a list of suggested actions that you can take
to contribute to the EPIC Sustainability Initiative.
Travel to and from the Expo
- Offset green house gas (GHG) emissions associated with your
participation in the event
- If you are traveling by plane, book your travel via the most
direct route possible as multiple take-offs and landings cause a
substantial increase in emissions
- Walk, bike or carpool to and from the event which will reduce
your contribution to the carbon footprint
At the Expo
- Recycle your bottles, cans and paper at recycling stations
throughout the event venue to reduce waste
- Bring your own reusable mug, water bottle, pen and pencil
- Collect business cards of exhibitors and have them e-mail
reports and other information rather than collecting printed
hand-outs
- When attending the exhibition, take only the information you
really require
While in Vancouver
- Select accommodations with existing environmental policies and
practices
- Turn off any lights, TVs, air conditioners or heaters when you
leave your hotel room for the day which decreases energy
consumption
- If your accommodation offers this service, take the option of
not having sheets and towels changed every day which reduces
consumption of energy, water and soap
- Do your sightseeing by foot, bike or public transit
